I have to say first of all that Asher has always been a "gassy" child. He was pretty fussy as a baby due to tummy discomfort. As he has gotten older he has gotten less fussy and less noticeably gassy. However, he still has his MOMENTS! One such moment occurred today.
Me: What was that!?!?
Asher: Just barking tree spiders.
Me: **uncontrollable laughter**
Somebody has been listening to his daddy too much!
On a completely different note. I am still totally convinced that Asher will be a chef someday. He LOVES to help me make dinner and set the table. He tastes what ever I am making throughout the cooking process if it is within his reach. He tells me what he thinks of it using descriptive words like "tasty", "nummy", and "good". He wants to know what each of the ingredients are and if possible touch them. He get things out of the cupboard and fridge for me and puts things away. He always wants to be the one to stir, measure and dump. My other kids are a bit frustrating to have in the kitchen while I am cooking - I always end up shooing them out at some point but Asher just seems to be a home there!
This month we visited the Train Show at Thanksgiving point for about the 5th year in a row. (look for pictures later) Lance and I also got to see Avatar in 3D with some friends. We loved the movie- it was truly amazing, especially in 3D. I also got to see Sherlock Holmes with my friend Jamie. I had a great time but I didn't think the movie lived up to the hype. I am currently reading The Lightening Thief - Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series so I am super excited to see the movie based on the book that is coming out soon. To anyone who likes Harry Potter - you will probably love this series too. It is better written then the Fablehaven series but just as (or more) exciting. Other than these few things we haven't done a whole lot this month - just taking care of everyday things and doing stuff for our callings. I have felt like being a hermit - generally due to the lack of sunshine. To boost my spirits I have done a lot of digital scrapbooking - you can check out my pages by going to either my Sarey and Mel Photography blog or my 7th Ward Scrappers blog.

Birthdays, Christmas, & Vacation Fun
Welcome to 2010! That sounds so wild! Remember when the year 2000 sounded such a long way off? Didn't we all think we would be driving around in flying cars by now? This time of year always makes me want to re-evaluate and try to do better. My good intentions don't always make it past February but a few do. We had a family home evening last night talking about goals we want to set for our family as a whole. JJ had tons of great ideas - he is a very goal oriented type of person. He wants to know what we have planned for every day of the week. He asks me every night what we have planned for the next day and if we don't have plans he offers to make plans for us! Hannah had a tough time understanding what a goal even is. She is our happy go lucky child - she sort of floats through life. She doesn't notice much and doesn't really care to know what is coming up during the day, week, year. It is fascinating to me to see how different their personalities can be. We are still figuring out Asher's personality - but he is unique nonetheless! Speaking of Asher - this is a transcript of a conversation he and I had yesterday.
Asher: Momma? I a boy.
Me: Yes you are.
Asher: Hannah a girl.
Me: Yep you are right she is a girl.
Asher: JJ a boy like me.
Me: Yes that is right.
*silence*
Asher: Momma? You just a mom.
Me: Ah ok.
I guess I no longer have gender!
We had a fun Christmas vacation- we enjoyed visiting the Aquarium with the Moessers and Zellers, going to a movie, dinner and seeing the lights at Thanksgiving Point with the Madigan Grandparents, celebrating Hannah's 6th birthday with family, and doing all our Christmas and New Year traditions.
