End of school year fun and Memorial Day

We are winding down the school year and that means that the days are packed with fun stuff for my school age kids. JJ has had his Field Day already as well as many end of school activities. Hannah has her Field day today! I was able to go and help out at JJ's Field day and it was fun to see the kids really enjoying themselves with all the fun activities that the PTA planned. Funny how time is - one minute it seems like Winter will never end and then all of a sudden it is almost summer and it seems like it always has been.JJ and his best friend Neal

On Monday we made the long trek to Brigham City. I am not sure why but that drive seems to get longer as I get older. It is really important to me to keep our family tradition of visiting the graves on Memorial day, alive. However, it seems to get more tiring every year. It didn't help that I got carsick this time- gotta remember the seabands next time. The kids had thier moments (well JJ and Asher both did) of screaming or pouting which doesn't make for much fun but there were many moments too when they had a great time. Best of all I am glad that we had my mom there with us for another year. The kids at my dad's grave

The rest of this week is full of teddy bear picnics, trips to the park, preschool graduation and dance festival. Should be a busy week!

Hannah's big day!

Hannah has worked very hard to prepare for her dance recital and it finally came! She did wonderful and we are so proud of her. Here is the videos from the program:

Her teacher is currently a high school junior! She taught and choreographed three age groups: Hannah's age is the minis group, 6-8 year olds group is the juniors group and a senior group that had older elementary and junior high age girls. She is amazingly talented! We are very sad that she isn't going to be teaching any more (she is on Lehi HS drill team). Hannah has had a great experience and learned a lot more in this class then in any of her other dance classes.

I also failed to blog about mother's day. We had a great mother's day dinner here at our house with the family. I truly love being with my family and I wish that we could get together more often. I am truly grateful for my mother and for the good influence she has always had on me. She is such an example of enduring to the end. I will always be grateful for her love and support. I am also grateful for Lance's mother, who has always been so loving and kind to me. She is a wonderful person and I love her very much. I am grateful for my sister-in-laws the have been and will always be some of the best mother's I know and I look up to them and learn from them all the time. I am also surrounded by some great friends who have taught me so much about how to be a better mother. I have to give a shout out to two of my best friends - Missy Z. and Jamie M. - you girls rock as moms and I am so grateful for your wonderful friendship. As is our tradition we take a photo of me with the kids. It is really fun to see how they change from year to year. I love these kids with all my heart and soul!

Let the happy moments roll

Bo (our behemouth of a cat) has come to tolerate the kitten. He was none to sure at first but now he will condescend to play with the kitten once in a while. The kitten LOVES this and will not give up playing until Bo begs to go outside.
This kitten finds wierd spots to take naps! This time in the middle of JJ's homework.

What a good and crazy week this has been. Hannah has had dance class almost every day in preparation for her recital. Because of this JJ was able to ride the bus to the Zeller's almost every day, which he loved. Me and the boys spent a lot of time outside at the Zeller's enjoying the sunshine while waiting for Hannah's class to finish up. We worked a little on the yard and cleaned the house in preparation for Mother's day. Today was a primary activity in which the kids visited the temple grounds and as one of the activities they had their picture taken by themselves and with their primary class. Missy and I worked together to do the photos. It was exhausting but fun and the pictures turned out great. This is what we made with the photos we took for each one of the kids. I really hope they and thier parents like them.

This is a photo I did right at the end of the activity. These are some seriously cute kids - don't you agree?I have to send out some love to JJ this week - he is really such a good big brother despite all the teasing and such! This week he attempted to help Hannah learn to ride a two wheeler after I got frustrated with her. And yes! he was much better at teaching her than I was. Secondly he got Asher to go pee in the toilet for the first time! Asher has since asked to go pee and poop a couple more times. Asher idolizes JJ just a bit so he is the perfect person to motivate Asher to be a big boy! Pretty exciting stuff I must say! Only another mom or dad could fully understand the magnatude of the prospect of being diaper-free! Friday some friends invited me to attend the Women's Expo down at UVU. I have always wanted to go but never gotten the chance before now. It was really fun and the girls I was with are so fun to be around. We really made a night of it by going shopping at the mall and a late movie afterward. All in all these have been great days.

New Background

So what do you all think of the new blog look? Too pink? Anybody want a custom background and header? Now that I know how I would love to make these for any of you! This week included lots of fun stuff. JJ performed in his first choir concert. He did great! Although I did have to remind him later that everybody can see him goofing off with his buddy when he is on stage. I swear he didn't even consider that! Ah well he is my free spirit! Today JJ had his Walk-a-thon at the school. I went down and took a few pics of him.

This week we also attended Hannah's parent teacher conference. It is great to go and hear that she is right on track academically and doing great socially. Her teacher's only complaint is that that she is such a social butterfly she doesn't always listen. But she has gotten better at that as well. Hannah's obsession with her little friend Nathan is still going strong - they give little gifts to each other all the time! She told to me the other day that she had explain what a crush is to one of her other friends. Apparently she knows exactly what a crush is and has a serious one on Nathan. She is growing up way too fast.

Lance is neck-deep in swine flu issues. He has put in a ton of extra hours and will probably have to go in to work on Saturday and Sunday for a short time as well. This is Asher and Hannah with our new kitten Charmin!
