We enjoyed some amazing sunsets and beautiful skies this trip to Palisades. It was another great memory filled trip. We missed having Carolyn with us this time around but her sore knee prevented her from being with us. The pictures are all kind of out of order but you get the idea of the good times that were had by all.
There were tons of these little toads or frogs down by the water. The kids caught lots of them. Asher had a great time observing them in his critter catcher and then letting them go.
What is it with kids and mud? They had a blast but it took hours to wash it out of Hannah's hair!
Not sure why only Carter looks happy in this one. They really were happy I think? The boy behind Hannah is the Zeller's cousin Jeremy visiting from Australia. He is 20 and is traveling around visiting family in US and Canada. It was fun for the kids to listen to his awesome accent and learn a little about how things are the same and different in his home town in Australia.
Asher was insistent that we return the frogs to where they found them at the beach before we went to bed so Lance and I took him down in the dark to let them go.
This little girl had a blast this time around! She can't decide what to call me. Sometimes she calls me Momma, Hannah, Nana, Grandma but never Sara. One of these days she will get it!
I wanted to try something I found on Pinterest - http://www.madetobeamomma.com/2014/06/woofem-campfire-treat.html#_a5y_p=1852811
Woofems are made of a wood dowel and a larger wood knob thing that allows you to plaster biscuit dough on the end and roast it in the fire and then fill it with yummy goodness like nutella or pudding etc. It took some practice but it was delicious.
The kids brought their air soft guns and got permission from the rangers to go up on the mountain in teams and have an airsoft war. JJ was in heaven!
We were so grateful that Grandpa Jake brought his canoe again this year. It is so fun but also an exercise in team work.
Zeller's made their signature delicious pancakes and foamy syrup. They are simply the best!
This was taken with my zoom lens from the campsite of the kids doing air soft on the mountain side across the lake.
It was a sacrifice to make this trip happen but it was so worth it! We had a great time.
