This year for mother's day we joined the Zellers in their tradition to go away for the Mother's day weekend. I must say I hope we keep this tradition alive. I loved it so much! We didn't have great weather in St. George but it was still a blast, especially because we were with the Zellers. We shared a condo in a new development just outside of Hurricane. It was big enough for all of us and had some nice amenities.
Missy and I went in to town for a few things and had to share a loaf of french bread that was really fresh and smelled super good.
This is Mouse! Hannah fell in love with him immediately. We met him while visiting Joel and Ruth. Their momma cat had kittens and this one looked just like her. Since her name is Minnie, Hannah said we should name him mouse. We decided to adopt him when he got a little older since Hannah's kitty Charmin had just died.
This is Kevin, Amy's rabbit. He was pretty shy with us but came out for a few minutes to socialize.
Ok, so we had heard that Oscars up Zion canyon had the most amazing food so the adults went up there Saturday night. It totally lived up to the hype. My pork tamales were amazing! The evening started to cool off a bit while we ate out on the terrace of the restaurant. The wind started to kick up a bit but wasn't bad. But by the time we were driving back out of the canyon the storm really started to blow through. The wind nearly blew us off the road. Huge tumbleweeds would suddenly appear on the side of the road and blow into us or right in front of the car. I was so glad I wasn't the one driving because it was freaking me out big time. It was pitch black because there are no lights on that tiny road and no homes or much of anything but desert around. After the wind started blowing we started to see lightening all around us. It was the only light that we could see other than our own head lights. As we got down the canyon closer to Hurricane the storm really got going. The power was out in Laverkin - including the stop lights. We went through a stop light area without even realizing it was an intersection until we were through it. We needed to stop at the Hurricane Walmart but getting out of the car was interesting to say the least because the wind was so bad I couldn't get the front seat door open with out help. There were shopping baskets and stuff flying every where around the parking lot. It took my breath away. On the way out after shopping I wasn't sure I was going to make it to the car. Missy and I hung on to each other and tried to keep each other upright. It was crazy! The kids were calling us from the condo because the thunder was so loud it was freaking them out. The next day we noticed that most of the garage door code pads in the complex had blown off. We found several lying around and put one back on the one at our condo.
Sunday we didn't have good weather so we couldn't really hang out by the pool like we had planned but it was ok. Missy and I got breakfast in bed and then both of us napped and read our books and just generally lounged around. It was pretty awesome.
Hanging out waiting to get into the Bear Paw cafe for breakfast.
After breakfast we went and played at the St. George splash pad.
We played at Sand Hollow and got our clothes all orange.
More relaxation time for me and Missy.
Libby got bonked and got a fat lip.
We had the funnest time and made the best memories!
